What is a Raspberry Pi? And why should you buy it?

The latest release of Raspberry Pi was on November 15, 2019. It is a series of small single-board computers developed to enhance the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries.

Unfortunately, this piece does not come with peripherals such as keyboard and mouse, however, some accessories have been included in many official and unofficial packages. It supports various operating systems such as 9front, Android Things, Arch Linux ARM, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, FreeBSD, Freedombox, Gentoo Linux, Kali Linux, Kano, NetBSD and others.

What is a Raspberry Pi?
Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer that plugs into a TV and keyboard. It's like a small computer that can be used for electronic projects, and for many of the things your desktop computer does, such as spreadsheets, word processing, surfing the Internet, playing games, and also playing HD video.

Raspberry Pi is a device capable of enabling people of all ages to explore computing and also learn to code in languages ​​like Scratch and Python. It has the ability to interact with the outside world. It has been used in a wide range of digital maker's projects from musical instruments to weather stations. 

A quick history of the Raspberry Pi 
There are several generations of Raspberry Pis released over time. It features a Broadcom system on a chip with an integrated ARM-compatible CPU and VideoCore IV GPU.

In 2012, the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B was released followed by the Model A.
In 2014, Raspberry Pi 1 Model B + was released, it is a board with an improved design.

The Compute Module was released in April 2014 for embedded applications.
Raspberry Pi 2 which added more RAM was released in February 2015.
In November 2015, Raspberry Pi Zero was released with a smaller size, low I / O, and general-purpose I / O capabilities.
In February 2017, Raspberry Pi Zero W was launched, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.
In January 2018, Raspberry Pi Zero WH was launched. It's the same version from Zero W with GPIO heads pre-soldered.

In 2019, the Raspberry Pi 3 B + was launched, which combined 1 GB of RAM with USB ports, as well as an Ethernet port.

Is a Raspberry Pi good for programming?
Raspberry Pi is better if you want to learn programming compared to a regular computer. It is powerful enough to run as a small Linux server.
